Az 1984 után a legmeghatározóbb olvasmányélményem az írótól. Sokszor, sok helyen mondtam már, hogy szerintem Orwell egy hatalmas zseni. Ezt ezzel a könyvével is bizonyítja számomra minden egyes űjraolvasáskor. Általában megüli ez a történet az ember gyomrát, és olyan könyv-másnaposságot okoz, hogy csak na. Épp ezért szoktam rá mondani, hogy rossszul leszek tőle. 

A könyv mesterien mutatja be a totalitárius államberendezkedés legfontosabb ismerető jegyeit, és alappilléreit egy olyan gazdaságban, ahol az állatok megdöntik az ember uralmát és kialakítják a maguk társadalmát. A kivívott szabadság története azonban lassan átcsap a meghamisított múlt történetévé, amelyben a legnagyobb szerepet az átlátszó hazugságok kapják. Valamint azok, akik ezeket elhiszik. Hogy félelemből-e, butaságból, vagy egyszerűen azért, mert a túlélés érdekében így könnyebb, az egyénenként változik.

Félelmetes valóságképet fest le ez a történet, ami hűen rezonál a mai belpolitikai helyzetre. A könyvet olvasva folyamatosan azon kattogtam, hogy ez mennyire ráhúzható az életünkre, vagy legalábbis a többség életére, mint valami rettenetesen kényelmetlen vizes lepedő. És nem csak részleteiben, hanem egészében. Mindenestül. Ez pedig számomra egyenesen kétségbeejtő jövőt vetít elő. Csak remélni merem, hogy lesz valami, ami változást hoz.

Rendkívüli módon ajánlom mindenkinek elolvasni ezt a könyvet. Ha fel kell nyitnia a szemét, akkor azért; ha tágítani szertené a látókörét, akkor azért; ha pedig egyszerűen egy maradandó olvasményélményhez szeretne jutni, egy valóban zseniális író tollából, akkor azért. Mindenképpen megéri belekezdeni!

5/5* - Orwell-t olvasni kell! Mert (sajnos) tart még az 1984-es év.

This book is my second most important reading experience served by George Orwell. The first one is of course 1984. I have told it many times, on countless platforms that in my humble opinion the author was a genius. He proves this fact with this book as well no matter how many times I read and reread it. For me a masterpiece is somewhere around this quality. It's true that most of the time this book feels like a huge chunk of brick in the stomach and the final result most likely be a severe case of book-hungover. That'a why I usally describe this book as one of those which make me sick. 

The book perfectly describes the totalitarian political system. Its main bases, and key points of how it works. Telling it through a farm as a setting of the story where the animals fought for their freedom and they built up their own society without any human influence. Not much time later the story of freedom became the story of rewritten past. Changed history. In that system lies got the main role. And those who actually believed in them. No matter how cheap the lie was. Why would anyone believe in cheap lies, you might ask. Well the reasons change. It can be fear, stupidity or simply surviving skills and instincts.

The scariest ascpect of this story for me, as a Hungarian is that we actually live under similar circumastances here. Politically I mean. While I was reading the book I constantly thought about how every last bit of it is like the system in my country. Not even partially, but all of it. All. Of. It. And it gives me a horrible mental image of the future. I can't deny it. I can't support it. I just hope someone or something will make things change in time. 

I highly recommend this book to everyone for a read. If someone needs to open their eyes, that's why. If someone wants to learn about this kind of system, then that's why. Or if someone wants to read a truly remarkable book by a really talented author then that's why. In any case, pick this book up!
