Rick Riordan: The Lightning Thief (Percy Jackson and the Olympians 1.)

Abszolút nem tervezett, teljesen spontán olvasás volt. Egészen egyszerűen, mert a feladás határán szükségem volt egy komfort történetre és karakterre- Ez pedig számomra, ahogy azt mindneki tudja, Percy. 

Olyan sokszor és olyan sok helyen beszéltem/írtam már erről a könyvről, hogy nem nagyon hiszem, hogy most ismertetnem kell, de azért nagy vonalakban mégis megteszem.

Percy egy, az átlagostól eltérő, 12 éves fiú. Nem nagyon találja a helyét egy közösségben sem, egészen addig, amíg rá nem jön, hogy a görög mitológiából ismert istenek, egyéb lények és szörnyek bizony léteznek. Sőt, Percy maga is a 12 Olümposzi egyikének a fia. Az Istenek között azonban nem uralkodik béke. Ugyanis valaki ellopta Zeusz mestervillámát. Percy kapja küldetésül, hogy a fősiten erejének szimbólumát visszajuttassa az Olümposzra a nyári napforduló előtt. Útján elkíséri a félvérek nyári táborának két lakója, Grover és Annabeth. Az út során megismerhetünk számtalan mitológiai lényt és részese lehetünk sok izgalmas helyzetnek.

A történet varázsa számomra továbbra is a régi és a modern mesteri vegyítésében, valamint a nagyon is szerethető karakterekben rejlik. Annyira látszik, hogy ez a történet jó szándékból és hozzáértéssel született. Kortalanul. Én legalábbis a mai napig ugyanannyira megtalálom ebben a történetben a helyem, mint 10 éve, mikor először olvastam. Pedig akkor sem tartoztam korban a célközönséghez.

Szóval most is, mint minden egyes korábbi alkalommal, nagyon tudom ajánlani ezt a könyvet. Mindenkinek. Percy világa annyira magával ragadó, hogy szerintem, ha csak rövid ideig is, de mindenki megtalálja benne a maga helyét.

5/5* - Nem tudom megunni. Nem és kész. Ha így haladunk, újraolvasom végre a Heroes of Olympus-t is!

This was an absolutely unplanned spontaneous read. Simply because when I started reading I was on the verge of giving up. So I needed a comfort read and a comfort character. And as everyone knows, this comfort character for me, is Percy.

I have talked/wrote about this book so many times, at so many places, I don't think I need to indroduce it, but just for the sake of it, I'll give it a try.

Percy is not one of the avarage 12 year-old boys. He doesn't really find his place anywhere in the mortal world. Until he realieses that all the stories about Olympian Gods, mythical creatures and monsters are true. And he is the son of one of the 12 Olympian Gods. In between the Gods there is no peace. Because someone has stolen Zeus' Masterbolt. Percy gets the quest to return the Lord of the Sky's symbol of power to Olympus before the Summer Solstice. On his quest he gets two friends as company from the summer camp of Half-Blood kids, Grover and Annabeth. On their way they get to meet many mythological creatures, monsters and a whole bunch of adventure, secrets and betrayal. 

For me the magic of this story still lies in the masterful mixing of ancient and modern elements. Not to forget the absolutely adorable characters either. It just shines through the book that it is written by someone who knows what he is talking about, and wants to make this world a little bit of a brighter place with his talent. Because he created something ageless. I for one still can find my place in this world as easily as I could 10 years ago, when I first read the series. And I wasn't in the targeted age group back then either. 

So right now just as any other times I highly recommend this book. To everyone. Percy is special as well as his world. If you step into it, you will find your place there. Even if just for a short period of time.

5/5* - I can't get bored on this one. Impossible. If I sink into this deeply enough I will finally reread the Heroes of Olympus series as well.
