Sőt, ha tovább akarok menni, a Heathcliff iránti kollektív ellenszenvet sem tudtam hová tenni soha. Nem mondom, hogy valaha is a kedvenc karaktereim között tartottam számon, de mindig úgy éreztem, egy kicsit félre van kezelve. Számomra ő eddig tipikusan az a fajta antihős volt, aki rosszkor volt rossz helyen, és nagyon nem a megfelelő embert szerette, még annál is kevésbé megfelelő módon.
A mostani olvasás azonban rádöbbentett arra, mennyivel érzékenyebb lettem az olyan társadalmi anomáliákra, mint a toxikus kapcsolatok és a gyerekek öncélú megfélemlítése, akaratlagos félre nevelése, más ellen uszítása. Mert mindez sajnos megvan Heathcliff karakterében és ezt nem lehet csupán azzal magyarázni, hogy elvesztette a szerelmét, vagy bosszút akart venni az életét megkeserítőkön. Vagy, ha magyarázni lehet is, mentséget ebben találni majdhogynem lehetetlen.
Érdekes mozzanata a könyvnek, hogy a Wildfell asszonyához hasonlóan itt is egy külső szemlélő, egy idegen mondja el a történetet, aki maga is másodkézből hallja azt, tehát nem attól, akivel megtörténtek az események. Úgy tűnik, ez a narrációs forma nagyon jól működött a két fiatalabb Brontë nővér művészetében.
Összességében biztos vagyok benne, hogy nem most olvastam utoljára ezt a könyvet. Nagyon komor, nagyon baljós és sötét, valami mégis van benne, ami időről-időre visszahúzza az embert. Aki valami komor és egy kicsit őrült történetre vágyik, annak meleg szívvel merem ajánlani.

5/4 - Nem lesz a kedvencem soha, ebben biztos vagyok, de most kifejezetten jó élmény volt az olvasás. Új nézőpontot kaptam. A könyv pedig az eddigiektől teljesen eltérő fókuszt. 
As you may know, I have been reading one classic book per month for years now. And this time, in November, I really wanted to read something heavy, a story with a bit of a darker plot. So I picked this one out from my shelf. I have read it many times, and strangely it has never had such negative effect on me, than on others. I have always known this is not the avarage love story, but I didn't really have any problems with it.
More so that I could not really wrap my head around all the hate Heathcliff got from everyone, everywhere. I can't say he will ever be one of my favoutrite characters, but I have always thought readers mistreated him quite a bit. I have always thought he was at a wrong place in a wrong time. He loved someone who didn't deerve it with methods which were even more questionable.
At this time though I realized I became more sensitive of social anomalies like toxic relationships, keeping children in fear, lack of raising said children, and make them jump at anybody who they have bad opinion of. And unfortunatelly we can see all of this in Heathcliff's character. And we can't explain his behaviour with the fact that he actually lost the love of his life or that he wanted revenge on everybody. Or if we can explain his behaviour with this we can't lift the responsibility from his shoulders at all.
Interestingly the book is told by a third party, similarly to The Tenant of Wildfell Hall. It seems this writing method just worked in the case of the two younger Brontë sisters.
All in all I'm sure this was not the last time I read this book. It's truly very dark and spooky and a little a bit insane even. And yet it has something which pulls the reader back from time to time. If you like to read, wish to read something with a bit of a darker tone, I recommend this book to pick.

5/4 - It won't ever be my favourite, I'm sure of it, but I liked to read it this time. I got a new point of view. And the book got an entierly different point of focus.
