Sarah J. Maas: A Court of Mist and Fury (A Court of Thorns and Roses 2.)

Az első kötet értékelője úgy épült fel, hogy beszéltem egy kicist magáról a történetről, a karakterekől, és arról, hogy miért is olyan kiemelkedően jó fantasy egyrészt az a regény, másrészt úgy egészében véve a teljes sorozat. Igyekszem ebben a bejegyzésben is ehhez ragaszkodni, de garantáltan el fogok kalandozni ide-oda néhol. Mert a történet a remek cselekményszálak mellett elég érdekes, komoly és fontos témákat boncolgat egészen mesteri ábrázolásmóddal.

A történet szerint Feyre elérte a célját. Amarantha halott, Prythian megszabadult a fél évszázados átoktól, így azt gondolnánk, a lány békében és boldogságban éli mindennapjait Tamlin mellett a Tavasz Udvarában. Nem egészen így van. Sőt, mondhatjuk azt is, hogy Feyre egyáltalán nem azt az életet éli, amit szeretne. Tamlin túlféltése, a mód, ahogy vele bánik, iszonyatosan rossz hatással van a mentális állapotára, ami a PTSD-nek köszönhetően eleve romokban hever. Ezt pedig elképesztő pontossággal szemlélteti az írónő. A dolog odáig fajul, hogy Rhysand előbb a saját esküvőjéről, amjd egy szabályos börtönfogságból menti meg a lányt.

Apropó Rhysand. Az ő porondon való megjelenésével és ott maradásával egy egészen gyönyörű kapcsolat kezd el kialakulni két élőlény között, akiknek a lelkét alaposan megtépázta az élet. Őszintén szóva nem is maga a végkifejlet ragadott el annyira velük kapcsolatban. Hanem a folyamat. Rhys nyilvánvaló törődése, amit Feyre lassan megtanul viszonozni. Az, ahogy Feyre otthonra talál Velarisban, ahogy fontos lesz számára minden és mindenki, ami és aki Rhys-nek is az. Sokáig anélkül, hogy tudná, valójában milyen kapcsolat áll fenn kettejük között. 

Mindezek mellett persze mozgalmas harc - és akció jelenetekre is sor kerül. Vannak dolgok, amiket nem kifejezetten szeretek a főhősünkben, de bátorsága az bizony van bőven. A Nyár Udvarában történtek, a halandó királynők árulása és a végén a jelenet Hybern királyával mind olyan történetszálak, amikre túlzás nélkül mondja azt az ember, hogy bizony jól van megírva.

Továbbra is remeknek tartom ezt a sorozatot. Számomra élvezetes olvasni. Tényleg úgy gondolom, minden van benne. Ebben a kötetben pedig már azt is látom, hogy nem csak az van benne, amit a műfaj megkövetel. Hanem a karakterábrázolás is valóban hihető. Túlzások nélkül, és anélkül, hogy bármi a szőnyeg alá lenne söpörve. Ezt pedig egy ilyen kaliberű történetben kifejezetten jó látni. Továbbra is nagyon ajánlom a fantasy szerelmeseinek, a helyenkénti 18+-os besorolást figyelembe véve.

The way I structured the previous entry about the first part of this series looked somewhat like this. I talked/wrote a bit about the story, the characters and why I think this is a good fantasy book and series. I would like to do the same with this entry. Though I can tell in advance, that I will step out of line sometimes, because this book brings up very heavy plotlines and feelings right beside the action and romance. And it's talking about them with spectacular accuracy.

According to the story Feyre reached her aim. Amarantha is dead and she set Prythian free from the 50 year long curse. In addition she saved her lover and his Court. One would think she lives her everyday life by Tamlin's side in peace and happiness.Well, not exactly. We could say Feyre didn't live the life she imagined for herself, like at all. Tamlin's overprotectiveness and the way he handles her and his Court ruin Feyre's mental health even more. And it says something since the girl suffers from severe PTSD to begin with. And this state of mental health is covered with scary accuracy by the wrirhng style of the author. Things get so bad that Rhysand has to save Feyre first from her own wedding, and after that from a solid golden cage, quite literally. 

Speaking of Rhysand. With him showing up, a fragile relationship starts to bloom between two living, breathing, creatures, who went through way too much and whose hearts and souls are in shreds. To be honest it was not their relationship what swept me off of my feet. But the whole progress. That Rhys so obviously took care of Feyre and the girl slowly but surely learnt to give it all back. That Feyre found a home in Velaris at long last. And she started to cherish everything and everyone what and who is important to Rhys. Even without knowing exactly how special their bond is. 

Besided all this we, of course, get our fair share of action and adventure and danger. There are some personality traits I don't really like in Feyre, but she has courage. That's for sure. Everything that happened in the Summer Court, the betrayal of the mortal Queens and the final scenes with the King of Hybern... I can say 100% sure that these plotlines are very well written and exeptionally well served. 

I still think that this series is just great. I really enjoy reading it and I still think it has everything a good fantasy novel needs. And reading this book I realized it doesn't only have what the genre wants it to have. But it really has great character setup and development. These characers and their reactions are not too much and they don't sweep anything under the rug either. This is so rare in this kind of literature and it's great to see. I really can't recommened this enough for fantasy lovers, but be aware of mild spice in this part of the series.
