A könyv hossza. Majnem 1200 oldal egy csomó felesleges információval. Ezek többsége puszta külsőség, ami sem a karaktereket, sem magát a történetet nem viszi sehová. Mondhatnánk azt is, hogy csupán az előítéleteket domborítja és erősíti. Ezzel párhuzamosan pedig alaposan túlírttá teszi a regényt.
A téma. Talán még akad, akinek rémlik, hogy 2020-21 környékén, mikor az ötödik kötetet olvastam, mennyit bosszankodtam a hiteltelen szekta-centrikus maszlagon. Itt sem volt sokkal rózsásabb a helyzet. Igaz, örültem, hogy a pszichológiai háttér, a manipuláció lélektana egy kicsit árnyaltabbá tette a könyvet. Általánosságban azonban a történettől kivert a frász. Többször eszembe jutott, hogy mi kell ahhoz, hogy valaki egy ilyen történetet így felépítsen...?
A karakterek. Nos, valahogy ők sem jutnak egyről a kettőre. És nem csak azért, mert a történet nagy részében nincsenek egy helyen. Furcsa, hogy ismerik egymást, mint a tenyerüket, kommunikálni mégis nehezükre esik. Szerettem, hogy a történet igyekezett beleszőni magánéleti dolgokat, az egész valahogy mégsem fekszik nekem. Az utolsó oldalakon történtek után joggal remélem, hogy a következő kötet legalább egy kicsit oldani fogja ezt a fajta feszültséget.
Mindennek ellenére a történet valamiért mégis etette magát. Hiába a sok összegubancolódott szál, az indokolatlanul sok karakter, valami jól működő mégis van ebben a sorozatban. És őszinte leszek. Az, hogy a sorozat és a karakterek ennyire magukkal ragadnak, engem lep meg a legjobban.
Ajánlani a könyvet azoknak tudom, akik ismerik, szeretik a sorozat eddigi részeit. Nem könnyű és nem kellemes a téma. És valljuk be, a vastagsága miatt sem kellemes olvasni. Engem viszont meglepően lekötött, és ha szabad ilyet mondani, majdhogynem kíváncsian várom detektív párosunk következő kalandját.

5/4 - Volt vele probléma nem kevés, de meglepő módon valamiért mégis lekötött a történet.
The length of the book. Almost 1200 pages full with information we don't really need to figure the case out. These are just a bunch of petty things which actually strengthten the prejudices. Not to mention making the book seem way too overwritten.
The topic. Back in 2020/2021 when I read the fifth book in this series I was actually fuming much about the sect-like topic. The case wasn't better this time either. It paid a bit more attention to the psychology of manipulation, making the story a bit more layered but that was it. All in all the story itself scared the living daylight out of me. I can't really imagine what it got from her to write such a story.
The characters. Well they didin't move a muscle regarding the two of them. Not only because they are not even at the same place during the majority of the story. It's strange that they know each other like the back of their hands, yet, they can't really communicate with each other, effectively. I liked that the story wanted to show us some private matters. But I don't really liked their relationship as a whole even like this. After the events on the last pages, I really hope this kind of tension will decrease in the next book.
Besides everything I kind of liked this book. No matter it was overwritten. No matter there were a buch of useless characters something worked in this story. And if I want to be honest, this surprised even me.
I could recommend this book if you liked the rest of the series. It's not an easy and kind experience, and the thinckness makes it even harder to read it. But I liked it. And if I can say so, I kind of looking forward to the next adventure of our two detecctives.
