A történet egy igazán érdekes olvasmány. Hogy mennyire az, az megintcsak a könyv utolsó negyedében derült ki igazán. A könyv két központi karakter és több mellékszereplő köré csoportosul. Középpontban a Jók és Rosszak Iskolájának igazgatói, az ikerpár Rhian és Rafal állnak. A két oldal közti egyensúly megbomlani látszik, ami bonyodalmak sorához vezet, amiket fontos igazságok felismerése és beismerése oldhat csak fel.

A történet szerintem egy tanulságos mese Jóról és Rosszról. Arról, mennyire vékony a határ a két érzés, a két oldal között. Hiszen nem lehet mindenki csak jó vagy rossz. Mindannyiunkban van mindkettő, és rajtunk áll, hogy melyik helyzetben melyiket hozzuk elő. Az olyan nagy becsben tartott egyensúly tehát nem két emberen múlik. Hanem minden személyen egyénileg. 

A két testvér, azt hiszem, elindult azon az úton, hogy erre rájöjjön. Kettejük karaktere - központi karakterek lévén - pazarul ki lett dolgozva. Én személy szerint az elejétől kezdve Rafallal szimpatizáltam. Az ő eredendően trickster, cheater karakterét nagyon szerettem, ahogy pedig végül kezdett rájönni dolgokra, egyre jobban a szívembe lopta magát. A testvérek közötti dinamika pedig egészen emberi volt. A rivalizálás, a bizalom (átmeneti) megromlása, a feltétlen szeretet mindennek ellenére, elképesztően jó ütemben bomlott ki. 

Azt, hogy a mellékszereplőket nem sikerült teljes mértékben megismerni, sajnáltam kicsit, mert félbehagyottnak tűnik a történet. Ami teljesen érthető. A Storian elvégre a testvétek meséjét írta.

Ha valakinek nem lenne ismerős a cselekmény, annak álljon itt egy nagyvonalú összegzés. A Jók és Rosszak Iskolájában mesehős-palánták tanulnak, arra várva, hogy a varázslat forrása a Storian megírja az ő meséjüket. Ennek az iskolának Rhian és Rafal a két igazgatója. Hogy ki a Jó, és ki a Rossz? Nos, az nekik maguknak is rejtély még.

Ajánlom a könyvet, ha szereted a kalandot, a tündérmeséket, a szerethető, jól megírt karaktereket és nem utolsó sorban a szemet gyönyörködtető illusztrációkat. Ebben a könyvben minden az egyben megvan.

5/4.5 - Ha nem ismerném a történetet, ez után a kötet után nem biztos, hogy belevágnék az egész sorozatba. Így viszont folytatom tovább a következő előzménykötettel. Kíváncsi vagyok, mit tartogat még a mese a testvéreknek és a körülöttük lévőknek.

This story is a very very interesting read. How interesting it really is? It will reveal itself in the last quarter of the book. The story centers around two focus characters and a couple of supporting ones/henchmen. In the middle of everything there are the School Masters of the School for Good and Evil. The twin sorcerers, Rhian and Rafal. The balance between the two sides seems to tip towards Good. This leads to many ups and downs and the bumpy road will be smooth again only if the characters face and admit the heavy truth. 

In my opinion this is a great tale. About Good and Evil. About the too thin boundaries between the two feelings the two sides. There is no such thing in a human being as only Good or only Evil. We all are a mixture of the both. And we have to decide which side we bring out in certain situations. So the precious balance doesn't depend on two people, but on everyone as a person. 

I think the two brothers started their journey on the road to admit this. Both of them are great and detailed characters. But I have to admit, I prefered Rafal right from the start. He is exactly the kind of trickster, cheater character I tend to adore in stories. And the way he started to figure things out... just made me fall in love with the character more and more. The dinamic between the brothers was just so real life-like. The rivalry, the (temporarily) tarnished trust, the unconditional love above all nontheless bloomed out in the perfect pace.

I was a bit sorry for the supporting characters. Their story seemed unfinished. Not detailed enough. On the other hand it is fine. Truly fine. Since the Storian wrote the twins' tale all along.

If you are not familiar with the story, let me give you a quick summary. The School for Good and Evil is a magical school for characters from well-known fairytales. They patiently wait for the time when the center of the magic, the enchanted Pen, the Storian writes their own story. This school has two headmasters, or as the story calls them, School Masters. The twins. Rhian and Rafal. But who is Good and who is Evil? This is a mystery even for the both of them.

I recommend this book to you if you like adventures, fairytales, the loveable and well-written characters and last but not least the breathtakingly beautiful illustrations. You will find everything all in one in this book.

5/4.5 - If I didn't know the original story I'm not sure I would continue the series after only this one book. But I will continue and read the next prequel story. I can't wait to see, what the Storian has for the twins and the supportive characters.
