Be kell vallanom, hazudtam, mikor azt állítotam, Murakami az egyetlen szerző, aki be tud húzni a mágikus realizmus világába. Zafón is minden különösebb probléma nélkül abszolválta a feladatot, már annak idején a Szél árnyékával is. Most a Marinával pedig méginkább. 

A rövidsége ellenére, vagy éppen azért ez a történet nagyon magával tudja ragadni az olvasót a titkok és rejtelmek eddig ismeretlen mélységébe. Történetünk főhőse Óscar tanulóévei idején betéved egy elhagyatottnak hitt kastélyba, amiről kiderül, hogy nem is annyira elhagyatott, sőt barátságot köt a ház (vagy nevezzük inkább palotának?) tulajdonosával és annak lányával, Marinával, akivel aztán vérfagyasztó kalandok sorába keveredik. Amely során fény derül két bűnös, de egymást nagyon szerető lélek valódi történetére. A könyv tragédiája azonban többek között az, hogy ez az igazság már nem kerülhet napvilágra. 

Engem rettenetesen magával ragadott a könyv cselekménye. Lendületes volt és izgalmas. Unatkozni egy percre sem hagyott. Azon pedig pláne nem volt időm gondolkodni, hogy a történet mégis mennyi a valóságtól elrugaszkodott dolgot rejt. Pörögtek a lapok én pedig haladtam az árral.

A karaktereket is mind megkedveltem, igen, még a negatívakat is. Ha voltak ilyenek egyáltalán. Ennek oka pedig az, hogy nem volt olyan karakter, aki céltalanul és motiválatlanul szerepelt volna a történetben. Mindenkinek megvolt a maga helye és feladata. Eddig bele se gondoltam, milyen régen olvastam már ilyen történetet. 

Mindent összevetve nekem nagyon tetszett ez a könyv. Nem tudnék negatívumot előhozni róla, ha akarnék se. Így hát mindenkinek ajánlom inkább a könyvet. De vigyázat! Tényleg vérfagyasztó kalandokra vállalkozik, aki belevág.

5/5 - Nincs hozzáfűzni valóm. Vagyis de. Több Zafónt kellene olvasnom.

I have to admit I lied when I said that Haruki Murakami is the only author who can sell the genre of magical realism to me. Zafón absolved the task with flying colours even back then when I read The Shadow of the Wind. Now that I had a chance to read Marina, the feeling just got stronger. 

Despite its shortness, this story pulled me into the deepest darkest pits of secrests and mystery. We have a protagonist called Óscar and he finds a seemingly abandoned house during his years at school. Later on he realized that the house was not so abandoned. On the contrary. Óscar even made friends with the owner of the estate and his daughter, Marina. And the two young pepole find themselves deeper and deeper in a dark story. A story about two sinful souls who despite the wrongdoings, love each other dearly. But under certain circumstances they need to hide their true story. One of the tragedies in this book is that this said true story can't be told anymore. 

I for one, loved this story. Lived and breathed with it. It was full of action and adventure and it had a slight hint of romance as well. It certainly didn't let me feel boredom. And needless to say I didn't really have time to think about the mythical, mysterious and magical aspects of the story. I didn't even want to drag it down to solid ground. 

I really liked all the characters. Yes even the negative ones. If we can talk about any negative characters here. And that's because there were no useless characters here. Every single one of them had purpose and a place in this story. And this sense of belonging is what I missed from my latest reads. So it was good to feel it again. 

All in all I loved this book very much. I can't and don't even want to talk about any disadvantages. Because I don't think it has any. So I'd like to just recommend the book. But be aware! It really tends to be blood chilling at some places.

5/5 - I have nothing to add. Except one thing. I should read more Zafón.
