Rick Riordan: The Battle of the Labyrinth (Percy Jackson and the Olympians 4.)

A hosszabb sorozatok vége felé már belőlem kezd kikopni a lendület minden egyes alkalommal. Most is így volt ez, így relatíve sok időt vett igénybe az olvasás, de attól még sok mindent sikerült felelevenítenem általa.

A történet elején Annabeth régi álma végre teljesül. Ő vezethet egy küldetést, melynek célja a zseniális feltaláló Daedalus megkeresése és segítségének kérése abból a célból, hogy megakadályozzák Luke seregeinek a Labirintuson keresztül a Félvér Táborba való bejutását. Annabeth, Percy, Grover és Tyson tehát útra kel. Küldetésük során pedig rengeteg kitérőben, kalandban és bizony veszteségekben is részük van. 

Számomra a történet leginkább Daedalus miatt volt fontos. A neve és a sorsa a későbbi kötetekben sokszor szóba kerül, mindig szomorúságot hagyva maga után. Hát, most alaposan emlékezetembe véstem, miért. Mellette felbukkanó, számomra nagyon fontos szereplő még Calypso. Egyrészt mert szeretem a karaktert, másrészt pedig mert nagyon fontos számomra a "mi lett volna, ha...", amit az ő történetszála képvisel. Ugyanez igaz Rachel Elizabeth Dare-re. Tulajdonképpen nem is kifejezetten a kalandok, vagy a karakterek sorsának alakulása, hanem Percy zavaros érzelmi világa adja ennek a résznek a lényegét. Valahogy sikerült szinte tökéletesen megragadni egy 15 éves kamasz zűrzavaros érzelmeit és azt egy páratlan történeten keresztül átadni.

Természetesen, ahogy eddig sem, most sem maradhatott ki a történetből a morális mondanivaló, amit ezúttal Pan karaktere szolgáltat. Az ember nem várakozhat arra folyton, hogy egy nálánál nagyobb hatalom minden baját megoldja. Magának kell tennie a boldogulásáért, akármilyen apró lépésekkel is. Idővel a kezdetleges apró lépések hagyják maguk után a legnagyobb nyomot. 

Épp az ilyen mondanivaló miatt érdemes újra és újra elővenni a sorozatot. Az első szériából már csak egy kötet van, de egyre jobban húz maga felé a Heroes of Olympus sorozat is. Ideje lesz haza látogatni a Jupiter táborba.

5/5 - Ez a rész nagyon fontos a történet további alakulása szempontjából. Nekem meg személyes szempontból. És nem utolsó sorban az imádott karaktereim szempontjából. 

Towards the end of every longer book series, the fire in me starts to calm down a bit, and I can't read as much of these books as I originally want to. This happened this time too, so this book took some pretty serious amount of time to read. But oh, Gods, it reminded me of so many vital things regarding the story.

At the beginning of the book, Annabeth's old dream finally comes true. She gets to lead a quest. She and her team needs to find the genius inventor Daedalus and have to ask for his help to block Luke and his minions to enter Camp Half-Blood through the Labyrinth. And so Annabeth, Percy, Grover and Tyson starts their journey. A journey with countless sidetracks adventures and of course, danger.

For me, this part of the story was important mainly because of Daedalus. His name and his faith get mentioned at later parts of the story, many times, always leaving a lingering sense of sadness. Now I made myself remember of the reason. Another important character for me from this book was Calypso. First, because I actually like her character, and second, I'm living for that 'what if' her storyline symbolises. The same goes for Rachel Elizabeth Dare. To be honest the main point of this book does not come from the adventures or the faiths of the characters, but from Percy's confused feelings. It's incredible how perfectly the story describes the all over the place feelings of a 15 year-old boy. 

Natrurally the moral teaching is not missing either from this book. And it comes from the character of Pan this time. One can not wait all the time for others, someone bigger, to solve their problems. One should do anything and everything for their own happiness. No matter how small are the first steps. These first tiny steps get the storngest meaning along the way. 

And this is exactly why it's worth it to reread this series from time to time. There is only one book left from the original series, but I feel like the Heroes of Olympus series is just pulling me toward itself. It's high time for me to visit home at Camp Jupiter again.
